What is this course about?
Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector is the entry requirement for teachers in Adult, Further and Community Education contexts. It introduces the major areas of professional practice in a series of practical workshop sessions, linked to written assignments.

Who is this course for?
Anyone who is teaching, or wants to teach, in the Lifelong Learning Sector.

What do I need to get on the course?
A minimum of GCSE in Maths and English at Grade C, or equivalent.

What will I study?
Sessions include syllabus and lesson planning and preparation, assessment, reflection on and improvement of practice, classroom management and inclusive learning.
Each workshop session is linked to a written assignment. You will need at least 3 hours a week outside class time to read and prepare. There is peer teaching, thirty minutes per participant, at the end of the course.

What qualification will I get?
City and Guilds Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (Level 3/4 ).
This is now obligatory in the sector.

What can I do after the course?
Seek work in teaching or training in the Lifelong Learning Sector, this includes workplace training.
If you are teaching/intend to teach with full responsibility as a teacher in further or adult education then you need to do the Diploma course: Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS).
