What is this course about?
This course is for anyone already working in further, adult or continuing education who is intending to become a full time teacher.
What do I need to get on the course?

You need to have:
•    your own class and be teaching it for at least 2.5 hours a week
•    a Level 3 subject-specific qualification in your own specialism.

What will I study?
The course will help you develop all the skills you need to work as a full time teacher in the Lifelong Learning Sector, including designing your own curricula and teaching a range of levels, subjects and learner types.
The course runs for three hours a week, and incorporates face-to-face teaching, workshops, group discussions, practical sessions and individual support.
You will demonstrate what you have learnt through practical skills assessments (lesson observations) and assignments that cover the theory of teaching.
In addition, you will keep a Teaching Practice Portfolio and a Reflective Learning Journal.

What qualification will I get?
 What can I do after the course?
At the end of the first year at London Cactus College, you can progress to the second year at London Cactus. The Diploma you will gain after your second year qualifies you for Qualified Teacher, Learning and Skills (QTLS) status, which is the full qualification needed to work in the Lifelong Learning Sector.
At the end of the second year, you will get the Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS).
