The higher education diploma in nursing will address the learning needs of these target groups with underpinning skills to support academic study and provide a level 3 qualification linked to their proposed Higher Education study. A broad range of knowledge will be acquired which support an understanding of Nursing including, biology, sociology, psychology, health contexts, mathematical skills needed for health contexts and professional behaviours, ensuring that the learner is fully prepared for progression onto the relevant degrees.

The HE Diploma in Nursing course is ideal forAdults who, because of social, educational or individual circumstances may have achieved few, if any, prior qualifications and wish to progress to higher education. As well as adults who have gone straight into industry (perhaps following apprenticeship routes) who wish to progress to higher education.

Learners who have followed these routes may not have come from a care background, so they may need to refresh/develop their skills in specific areas as well as learning more about subjects in which they have an interest. If the learner has gone straight into employment, they may not have studied at Level 3 and so this Access Diploma will help them to build on existing skills and provide a good grounding for further academic study.

On the HE Diploma Course, learners  will complete a planned, balanced and coherent programme of study, through which they have been able to acquire subject knowledge and develop academic skills which are relevant to the intended progression routes.

This course is a flexible, blended learning experience. The days of the week that you attend classes can be arranged with your assessor to fit your needs.

Funding for this Higher Education Diploma is available via Advance Learner Loan. Learners will not have to pay back the loan if they proceed to higher education after completing the programme.

To gain this qualification, learners must achieve a minimum of 46 credits , divided between mandatory and optional units Specifically 24 credits must be earned from the mandatory units, while a minimum of 22 credits must be obtained from the optional units. It’s important to note that all mandatory units must be completed to finish the course. All units will be assessed internally by your Tutor or Assessor through a portfolio of evidence. This portfolio will cover three main areas: Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviour.
